About

This site is created by web developers for developers and software engineers. We write about the things we personally find interesting – no more, no less. The categories at the top of the header are a “hint” to the topics we’re covering the most, but over time the number of categories may increase.

In Web Dev we share tutorials, snippets, and guides; for front-end/back-end development. In AI and News – we cover the latest trends, also mostly focusing on digital tech. And Hosting is reserved for our guides on managing VPS servers and hosting accounts, particularly DigitalOcean – where we have been customers since 2013.

The project was created and is maintained the most by Alex. He has over two decades worth of experience with writing and code wrangling, and has had his work featured in practically all large media publications in the world. E.g. Do you remember the Zoom AI training story? Alex did that. Humble brag.

We’re also working on something called The Learn Hub – this is a growing resource where we share in-depth technical information on programming languages and popular software. Kind of like MDN, but oriented to be more accessible in a sense that we focus on snippets and concrete examples that you can grab & go.

The easiest way to get in touch with our team is to email us.

Why aren’t you on social media?

Because we don’t care about it. Social media sites are largely driven by draconic and unfair algorithms that are entirely out of our control. In that sense, social media feels more like a waste of time than a useful feature. If you want to be “social” with our content, we do provide share buttons at the end of each guide/post we publish. You can also stay in the loop using our RSS feed, or you can follow the DropletDrift organization on GitHub.

What stack is this site using?

The site is hosted on a dirt cheap DigitalOcean server and all content is managed by WordPress. The theme is entirely custom and created by us. Every single element has been designed for this specific site. While we would love to publish this theme for everyone, it is an absolutely hot mess on the back-end, so we’ll spare you the trouble. But if you find some technical errors or things aren’t working properly on mobile – give us a shout!
